No other initiative has been able to get everyone to work together. Until TACL.
Since our inception in 2018, we’ve been bringing together major players in healthcare to find the best solutions for cancer prevention and care. Our partners meet, share information, and find fact-based solutions to the challenges in our healthcare system.
By leveraging the strength of our diverse leadership in healthcare across the state, we’re able to facilitate collaboration that expands access to prevention, early detection, and standard of care treatment for all residents in Louisiana.
In fact, Taking Aim at Cancer in Louisiana operates primarily through our partners. Not only do our board partners provide essential funding and support that fuels our operations, they also help carry out our strategic priorities.
Board Partner Organizations
Our partners constitute a majority of the state’s cancer treatment and prevention system. The health systems represented provide 80% of inpatient cancer care in the state, while the health plans provide 78% of the coverage for Louisianans. This level of representation across the state further boosts the impact of our efforts.
Additional Partners
We’re also proud to partner with additional organizations that aren’t current members of our board. Improving cancer outcomes takes all of us, and their contributions help make our work possible.
Our Executive Board
Each partner organization appoints a representative that sits on our executive board. This board then elects officers that help guide our work and ensure results. And together with our team and committees, they’re responsible for identifying solutions and delegating that work to our partners to execute.

Committees
We’ve formed four working committees to organize the efforts of our board partners. Each committee is tasked with addressing specific challenges and introducing new initiatives to help solve them.
Partner Commitments
Tackling cancer requires a dedicated, organized effort. That’s why we ask all our partners to:
- Adopt the recommendations & guidelines set by the Clinical Committee for both breast cancer and colorectal cancer.
- Help us bring cancer screening access to as many underserved areas as possible.
- Help recruit participating organizations to support TACL’s initiatives.
- Share data on screening rates and the time it takes to initiate treatment.
- Share quantitative and qualitative data on previous cancer-preventative programs.
- Designate staff support for pulling, analyzing and reporting data to TACL.
- Sign the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable’s pledge for supporting the 80% screening goal in every community they influence.
- Explore opportunities to share resources among organizations—even with your previous competitors.
- Make a modest financial investment to fund TACL’s operating budget and initiatives.
